“The Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade in downtown Gatlinburg is by far one of the most popular events of the season,” said a spokesperson for Timber Tops Luxury Cabin Rentals. “It is always exciting to see just how many families and friends come out to celebrate the holiday season with us in the Smoky Mountains.”
This year, the Gatlinburg Christmas Parade is looking to break a new world record by distributing over 20,000 red noses to parade-goers. Attendees will be asked to wear the noses for up to five minutes as the city attempts to break the current world record set in Australia in 2011 with 16,092 noses.
In addition to the floats and parade participants, spectators will also enjoy being able to experience the $1.6 million worth of holiday lights that decorate downtown Gatlinburg. All LED, these displays are just what any visitor needs to get into the Christmas spirit.
The grand marshal for this year’s Gatlinburg Christmas Parade will be Caleb Johnson, the 2014 American Idol winner. Johnson will be joined by over 100 parade entrants representing a variety of local businesses, civic groups, and charities, as well as 12 marching bands from all across the Southeast region.
The 2014 Gatlinburg Christmas Parade will extend from Traffic Light #1A on Highway 321 to Traffic Light #10 on the Parkway. Parking can be found in one of the many paid parking garages found throughout the city, including the one behind the Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies.
The festivities are set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Because of the high number of people anticipated to attend the Gatlinburg event, Timber Tops Luxury Cabin Rentals strongly encourages families and guests to arrive early to get a good parking spot and view of the parade.
