Whether it’s because of low rates or a reduction in available drivers, new drivers are needed to address the demands for freight across the country. As the amount of freight that needs to be delivered grows, the number of road freight trucks available to do the job is shrinking.
Universal Transportation Services, an intermodal trucking company, is looking to hire owner/operators that want to be a part of the industry’s future expansion. With four terminals, the company has many opportunities throughout the Midwest for drivers looking to settle down.
“The company can handle nearly 20% more volume if it had more trucks available in its fleet,” said Brent Bois of Universal Transportation Services.
Because of the close proximity of all four terminals, Universal Transportation Services’ drivers are home nearly every night, rather than on the road. The excellent communication among the customers, the drivers, and the terminals ensure a hassle free work environment that can’t be found at many other companies.
For those drivers that do not own their own trucks, Universal Transportation Services has a lease to own opportunity that allows drivers to buy a truck and make monthly payments on it with help of Universal Transportation Services.
Universal Transportation Services currently employs around 75-80 drivers. Its terminals are located in Detroit, Omaha, Minneapolis and Chicago. Detroit is its largest Terminal and is home to about 35 drivers. Each location is conveniently located close to the rail ramps, allowing for easy drop-off and pick-up of the freight.
Universal Transportation Services works directly with drivers to ensure the highest level of safety is maintained for each truck on the road. Educating the drivers and providing them with the information that they need while on the road is one of the company’s main priorities.
