Preliminary draft thematic areas for specific commitments in relation to land and agriculture in WSSD (See attached draft discussion papers):
In November, 2001 representatives of the SARD Major Group Focal Points (above) and FAO Task Managers for Agenda 21 related to Land and SARD met to discuss areas of possible commitments in response to the call from the WSSD Secretariat at the United Nations. The preliminary drafts for these papers are included with this briefing document and are entitled:
- Access to Resources for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development
- Good Practices for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development
- Global Campaign on Fair (Decent) Conditions of Employment in Agriculture
Additional areas for challenge and commitment are expected from governments, major groups and other stakeholders. These papers will be made available as they are developed and posted on stakeholder websites. Your participation is invited to develop these and other commitment themes.
Invitation to all stakeholders to develop and support initiatives to implement SARD through the WSSD Process:
Major Groups, governments, donor institutions, and other stakeholders are invited to join the process of identifying and developing commitments to implement SARD, food security and land related initiatives.
